How to Choose the Perfect Honeymoon
Hello my lovelies!
Today is a gloomy winters days, so what better way to have a blog post about perfect honeymoon destinations and how to choose the right place?! I know, how mean am I?!
This is pt 1, and it’s been given to me by the ever so popular and amazing Lekker Adventures, a travel company based in London, helping people pick the perfect getaways for honeymoons, and other types of holidays.
It’s a lovely read, and the photos just make you wish you were there.
Your honeymoon is the one of the most memorable holidays you are likely to take. Yet along with the busyness of arranging your wedding, the planning of the perfect holiday to celebrate your nuptials often takes a bit of a back seat.
From exotic island getaways to mountain-framed vineyards, from wildlife safari parks to exciting city breaks, we can help arrange your dream honeymoon.
Not sure where to start? These are our current favourite honeymoon suggestions.
AN EXTREMELY ROMANTIC DESTINATION
The Philippines’ islands and beaches are perfect! Not only are there the pure white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, beautiful terraces of rice fields, and colonial architecture – the islands of the Philippines are also steeped in culture and history. Island hopping is the order of the day, and a combination of culture and beaches with luxury properties will make for a unique and special honeymoon.
We feel the best honeymoon spots can be found in the province of Palawan. It has a lot to offer in terms of romantic and exquisitely beautiful spots such as El Nido and Coron Island beach resorts. We recommend whale shark-watching in Oslob, sailing around Mactan Island and spending time being pampered in luxurious spas. For those looking for more than just gorgeous beaches and pampering, the Philippines have some stunning surroundings – the fantastic Chocolate Hills in Bohol, the Rice Terraces in Banaue and why not climb one of the 37 volcanoes or discover caves, lakes and waterfalls.

A CLASSIC ISLAND DESTINATION
A Maldives honeymoon conjures picture perfect images of archetypal white sand beaches framing jungle interiors, surrounded by atolls of crystal clear waters dropping away into the depths. Add in the charm of the locals and their natural instinct for good service, excellent food and diving to die for and you can understand why a honeymoon in the Maldives is honeymoon heaven.
The main activity in the Maldives is simply relaxing! There are a number of excursions if you get restless, from visiting locals on a nearby island to cookery classes. But given that 99 per cent of the country is made up of water, it’s not surprising most visitors decide to take to the Indian Ocean to uncover treasures that lie beneath the waves. The Maldives is one of the world’s top destinations for snorkelling and diving.
We recommend that couples take short boat rides to neighbouring islands and spend time exploring the many vibrant coral reefs. Oh and don’t forget to get a quintessential Maldivian massage.

A CULTURALLY INTRIGUING DESTINATION
Vietnam is a country that perfectly manages to jam-pack everything we love about South East Asia into one destination. Fascinating cities with a rich cultural heritage, endless white sand beaches dotted with unspoiled fishing villages, bustling markets, fertile delta plains with their green rice paddies and dramatic mountains with ancient hill tribe cultures. It’s fairly easy to say then that anyone considering a honeymoon to Vietnam won’t be disappointed.
Vietnam has also earned a name as a top spa sanctuary, and in major cities, there are literally hundreds of great spas to choose from. We would personally recommend trying your hand at a cooking class. These will usually include a market visit, where you can find out more about each ingredient and how it’s sourced. Vietnam has long been a firm honeymoon favourite with the Lekker Adventures team.
