If you’ve been to a lot of weddings, then you know they can get a little wild. From décor and food to the wedding dress itself, often things are very big, flashy, and over-the-top, and a lot of couples delight in that kind of dramatic flair. And you know what? That’s great. It’s your wedding, and if you want it to be a grand spectacle, that’s something that should only be encouraged. However, with the recent trends, a lot of brides are actually looking for something simpler. Minimalism is becoming popular again, and if you’re not the kind of couple who likes to make a big fuss, it could be just the kind of direction to take for your big day.
The week is at it’s end and for most that’s a great thing, however here at Matthew Oliver we love all things wedding, so we’ve decided to spend our Saturday visiting a stunning venue that we get the pleasure of working with this year, that venue being Aynhoe Park. Can’t wait! Though first I get the honour of introducing Cassie Steele, a freelancer who couldn’t wait to share her tips on ‘Planning the best outdoor wedding’; as lovers of planning outdoor weddings we jumped right on board with her top tips and couldn’t have said it better ourselves! Check them out below;
Getting married is a wonderful experience, but the big wedding meal you’ll be having with all your special guests is the most important part, right? Right. Whether you’re catering for picky eaters or those with dietary requirements such as low cholesterol, vegan or sugar free dishes, there’s plenty of choice for how to present the feast. Let’s delve into the pros and cons of three options: sit down meals, family style settings and buffets.
It’s Friday afternoon and as usual I have taken a little time off from the planning to have a drink (prosecco of course!) and do a little writing for you lovely people! It’s been a busy day in the Matthew Oliver Studio today, Matthew, Millie, Ceri and myself all here busy working away; with Winston making sure we keep on track! Don’t let his gorgeous face fool you, he’s a strict boss!
So thinking of what to write about, my eye fell to a picture of some beautiful lounge furniture we had at our Mandarin Oriental wedding last year and I thought, perfect! Let’s talk about why you should think about lounge furniture at your wedding, so here goes…
These past 2 weeks have really flown right by and now here we are almost halfway into the month of April! I have of course been learning how to do lots of things and have now worked on two proposals for new clients. To create these design boards I first had to go over each brief to grasp what style of wedding and details they are looking for.
We love planning destination weddings and we know there is a lot that goes into making it unique for you and your partner. Although you are planning an international wedding and there are a lot of similarities to planning a wedding in your home country, there are also some significant differences that you need to bear in mind. Here at Matthew Oliver we have therefore put together an infographic to remind you of all the questions you should be asking, to make sure you really get the wedding you always wanted!
Yes I know, it’s been to too long! Though I’m here now, sat on a plane after a fairly hectic week in Italy… which is exactly what I want to tell you all about! The Matthew Oliver team have been in full professional(ish) working swing in both Venice and Tuscany this week. I’m sure I won’t need to tell you what we’ve been up to, it’s no secret Matthew and I are ‘trigger happy’ when it comes to photos and the inevitable social media-ing that comes with it! Alas please indulge me as I run through the highlights, if only to get them straight in my head!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Huge apologies for it being 9 days late! But hey ho, we’re still in the ‘New Year’ and we are certainly still wishing you are all happy! We have slightly been off the grid over the holidays, what with traipsing around the country visiting wonderful family and friends. The other thing that has kept us busy (as well as continued planning of our fantastic 2017 weddings – more to follow on this), is that Matthew, Winston and I have just moved house (exciting!) and dealt with all the craziness which comes with it! But we are settled in now and love it!
Right, I think that’s enough of a catch up and now to the important bit! Which is our first guest post of 2017, coming from the lovely people over at lunss.com, a site dedicated to custom made dresses online. They’re here to talk about subtle but important wedding day tips, have a good read and pop over to their site to see what they’re all about…
Yes it is Friday again and with it we are crawling ever closer to Christmas! We are in full festive swing, with the Matthew Oliver studio sparkling with Christmas lights and Winston lounging around the office in his Christmas jumper (pictures to follow!). Now this week we are very lucky to have a guest blog by the wonderful Isabella Foreman from Smart Photo Editors, who has written a fantastic article titled ‘How to Organise the Perfect Winter Wonderland Themed Wedding’. Have a read through the tips and ideas of this insightful blogger, it’s worth it! Article after the jump:
It’s nearing the end of the week, hurrah!
Things have been a little crazy of late, as I’m sure you are well aware, due to the launch of our new site! I’m hoping everyone has had a chance to take a look around it! (It’s worth it I promise!). The rest of the country, especially those in the retail sector, tend to have a bit of a crazy time around now as well. The reason of course being Black Friday and Cyber Monday! (I hear there are also talks of a Sofa Sunday(!?!), but I’m not convinced!).
Apologies it has been a little while, as always we have been all over the place, which can leave little time for writing. Though saying that I have found a little time on our flight back from the stunning Amalfi coast, where we have been doing a little recce for one of next years weddings, and let me just say, it is BEAUTIFUL! But enough about that and a little more about today’s blog, which is…
